C. H. Mackintosh was a well-known and well-loved
writer among the early Brethren—his writings are
still appreciated and in demand today. In this little
book he looks at the service of the Lord Jesus Christ:
past, present and future. It is a wonderful and uplifting
meditation on Christ as Servant—He served as
the One who gave Himself as a sacrifi ce for our sins
(Exodus 21:1-6); He presently serves us as our Priest
and Advocate in heaven (John 13:1-10); and He will
serve us again at His second coming (Luke 12:37).
“CHM” also draws practical applications for our own
life and service from Christ’s marvelous example.
The author concludes his meditation by describing
his purpose in writing about this with the following
words:
“May the eternal Spirit fi ll our hearts with genuine love to
the Person of our own adorable Lord and Saviour; that so our
one grand and undivided purpose may be to live for Him in
this scene from which He has been cast out, and to wait for
that moment when we shall see Him as He is, and be like Him
and with Him forever.”
