Publisher`s note

This is the definitive history of the so-called "Plymouth Brethren" from their earliest days in 1826 up to 1936. These two volumes contain so much information not easily found elsewhere that they are still, undoubtedly, the best history of the Brethren Movement in the English language. The constant demand in the last decade for this set of books is a clear testimony to the sustained interest in a work of God which He wrought in the early 19th Century when New Testament truths, long buried and obscured by ecclesiastical tradition, were recovered.
While not endorsing every conclusion made by Mr. Noel we accept the general tenor of his work and commend it to the reader for careful consideration. The chapters generally end with a bibliography listing long out of print material: the second-hand book department at Chapter two or the archive resources of the publisher may be able to supply copies.
