Ever so slowly the Dakota Territory is being transformed into rich farmlands. Finally the Bjorklund family and their neighbors are reaping the promised harvest that brought them across the Atlantic from Norway. With the coming of the railroad, the small town of Blessing has begun to prosper. But for Ingeborg, Haaken, and their children, challenges still remain. The wheat harvest is in full swing. After their own fields are harvested, Haaken and the neighboring men take the steam engine and the separator to thresh for other homesteaders. With Haaken away and the fields standing idle, Ingeborg is afraid to wait to finish the heavy fall work. Will she regret taking the team to the field herself?
